I'm almost finished
and as I near the end
I move more slowly
savor the words, thoughts, feelings
I had once
full of intense
hurt, heartbreak, joy, thrill.
My fingers delicately
brush the last pages
as they float on air.
I don't want to close the story
but I will
because starting over won't be
as good as the first time
... and I already know the ending.
